How to Create Membership Type?
You can create a new Membership Type for the members of your organization.
Some examples of membership types are Consultant, Individual, International, Utility, and Manufacturer. There are some slight differences in the configurations of these membership types.
Note: In this section, we are illustrating how to create an Individual Membership Type.
1. Navigate to M360 - Membership Type List page and click New M360 - Membership Type.

Or
Navigate to Membership > Manage Membership Types > Membership Types > New.

A blank M360 - Membership Type form is displayed.

The Membership Type form has various sub-sections and we learn about each of them in the following links:
2. Once all the required fields in these sections have been filled out, click Save.

The form will be submitted, and the new membership type will be added to the Membership Type List.

Primary Information
In the Primary Information section of the Membership Type form, important data required for the creation of a membership type has to be entered or selected in the associated fields.

There are three types:
Note that even if a member joins anywhere in the mid-period, the membership duration will be considered from the calendar start date to the calendar end date.

CHAPTER DURATION TYPE
|
Specific period for the Chapter validity within the membership type
It is generally the same as the main membership type described in the DURATION TYPE.
|

CALENDAR START MONTH
|
Starting month for calculating the period of membership validity when the FIXED CALENDAR type is selected from the DURATION TYPE dropdown list
|
|
CALENDAR END MONTH
|
Ending month for calculating the period of membership validity when the FIXED CALENDAR type is selected from the DURATION TYPE dropdown list
|
|
DURATION (MONTHS)
|
Period for calculating the time interval of the membership validity if the FIXED DURATION TYPE is selected from the DURATION TYPE dropdown list

REVENUE RECOGNITION DURATION (MONTHS)

Specific period of months when revenue is earned from the Membership fees or dues

|
Membership validity always commences from the first day of the month

For example, if the cut-off day is set as 20 of a month and the member joins on any day before the 20th of the current month, the current month’s first day will be considered. Otherwise, the start date will be the first day of the next month.

Options
The Options section of the Membership Type form allows the setting up of various requirements and permissions customized for the members joining this membership type.
Note: Based on the options you select here, they show up on the membership creation wizard.

The system will calculate the appropriate date for the first and subsequent reminders using the Renewal Reminder Count. For example, if the Renewal Reminder Count = 3 and the Renewal Reminder Frequency (Days) = 30, then the first reminder will be sent 90 days before expiration, the second reminder will be sent 60 days before expiration, and the third reminder will be sent 30 days before expiration.

The Item Pricing section within the Membership Type form allows you to configure the pricing of each item included in this membership type.

Group Pricing
The Group Pricing section of the Membership Type form allows you to add benefits associated with item groups upon selecting this membership type such as discounts on events, items, etc.

1. Select the item group that will be given a special price for joining this membership type from the PRICING GROUP dropdown list.
2. Selected the discounted price for the associated group from the PRICE LEVEL dropdown list.
3. Press Add to add the group pricing for this membership type.
You can add more item groups with discounted prices and edit or remove the existing ones when needed.
Note: Generally, Group Pricing is preferred to Item Pricing on a membership type.
Subscription
The Subscription section within the Membership Type form allows you to configure the subscriptions available within this membership type.

1. Select subscriptions included within this membership type from the SUBSCRIPTION PRICING dropdown list.
Alternatively, you can add subscription pricing by clicking the
icon and entering the required values in the Subscription Pricing form.
2. Select the item associated with the subscription from the ITEM dropdown list.
3. Enter the applicable discounted price of the related items in the subscription in the PRICE OVERRIDE field.
Add-Ons
The Add-Ons section within the Membership Type form allows you to configure the additional items available for the members within this membership type.

1. Select the item to be included as an add-on from the ITEM dropdown list.
2. Enter the applicable discounted price of the associated items in the PRICE OVERRIDE field.
