How to Create a New Course?

You can create a new course to expand educational offerings and meet the changing needs of learners. Note that you can create/edit a course only with relevant user permissions.
1. Navigate to the Learning > Manage Courses > and click Course.
The M360 - Course List page is displayed.
 
2. Click New M360 - Course.
Note: You can also access the M360 - Course form by navigating to Learning > Manage Courses > Course and clicking New.

3. Enter/select the desired values in the various categories of the form. 
 For more information, refer to the following section:
 
4. Click Save.
The new course has been successfully created.
Note:
  • To view the course information in detail, navigate to the M360 - Course List page and click View in the row of the desired Course to view the detailed information.
 
The selected Course page is displayed.
 
  • To modify the course details, you can follow one of the methods below:
  • Click Edit within the course view page.
 
  • Click Edit in the desired course row within the M360 - Course List page.
 
 
Primary Information
The Primary Information section within the Course form allows you to enter/ select the essential course data in the associated fields.

By default, the M360 - Course Form is selected.
NAME
Name of the course
COURSE TYPE
Course type that triggers the inclusion of the default values associated with that course type such as notifications, image set, etc.
 
Note: You can customize the course type by clicking New from the dropdown list or the corresponding icon.

STATUS
Current status of the course
 
The available statuses are 
  • Pending Activation - The course is being structured.
  • Active - The course is ready and operational.
  • Closed -  The course has been completed.
COURSE NUMBER
Unique identification number for the course assigned within your organization
INACTIVE
Deactivates this course
 
Course Information 
The Course Information section within the Course form allows you to enter/select the course details such as the course description, level, audience, language, pre-requites, duration, delivery format, etc.

  • Virtual -  An online presentation of the course
  • In Person - A face-to-face presentation of the course, enabling actual interaction at a specified location
  • On Demand - A flexible feature allowing access to class materials and content for course completion
COURSE PREREQUISITES
Requirements that should be fulfilled before enrolling for the course
SKILLS GAINED
Specific knowledge or ability gained from the course
LANGUAGE
Language used for communicating the course content
AVAILABLE WITH CREDENTIALING PROGRAM ONLY
Whether or not to allow the availability of the course only with a credentialing program
ENABLE CLASS CREDIT
Whether or not to allow credit grants for the course
PRIMARY COURSE CREDIT
Primary credit grant type for the course
LMS ID
Unique identification code for the associated learning management system
SPONSOR
Sponsor associated with the course
 
Notifications
The Notifications section within the Course form allows you to set up the registration, cancellation, and other notifications for a course.

Course Assignment
The Course Assignment section within the Course form allows you to define and describe the course, including its resources/ guidelines.

The COURSE KIT subsection within the Finance section allows you to configure the shipping method of the course kit and the discount applicable for the kit.

Course Kit 
The COURSE KIT section on the Course form allows you to configure the items and their quantity to be included in the kit upon registering for the course.

Click Add after entering the required fields in the Course Kit section to save the data and add more items. 
 
Classes
The Classes section of the Course form is accessible only in the Edit or View format of the form.
A course can be configured to have no class, a single class, or many classes.
 
You can create a new class or edit the existing classes for a course.  For more information, refer to How to Create a Class?
 
Course Pricing
The Course Pricing section provides information about the cost or fees established on the associated course. You can configure the required course fees for the learners to participate based on the type of class.
 
Course Credit
The Course Credit section within the Course form enables you to view and configure the numerical value assigned to a course to quantify the learner’s successful course completion, thus, allowing the progress of the learner to be tracked through the accumulated credit points.  
 
Note:  
  • The Course Credit is accessible only in the Edit or View format of the form.
  • The Credit points vary for different accrediting bodies for the same course.
  • A new course credit can be added by clicking New-M360 - Course Credit.  
 
The Course Credit form is displayed, allowing you to enter/select the required values in the fields.

CREDIT DESCRIPTION
Description of the credit
ACCREDITING BODY
Accrediting body auto-populated from the selected CREDIT TYPE
CREDIT UNITS
Number of units awarded upon completion of the course.
CREDIT TPYE UNITS
Unit type for the credit points in the course
 
This is auto-populated.
VALID FOR MONTHS
Duration of the validity for the course credit points
 
Course Curriculum
The Course Curriculum section within the Course form allows you to outline the content and learning objectives of the educational course.
 
Note: The Course Curriculum section is accessible only in the Edit or View format of the form.
You can add a new Course Curriculum by clicking New M360 - Course Curriculum, or update an existing curriculum if needed by clicking Edit in its row. 
The Course Curriculum form is displayed.
